For the Plano team ive been going tbrough vines high school and have a teacher and have been doing everything I need. I just got word that we cannot do this unless the teacher is there the whole time and travels with us. We won't be able to open up an account and cannot associate with Plano at all. Any advice on what to do and how I can get this working to get a bank account up and running and let the club work out and move on?

Really need more info, are you trying to set up your own club at Plano? You can set up the club without a bank account initially though as you grow I'd recommend one. My wife and I set one up for our high school club and had to have meetings, minutes from the meetings, by laws then present this stuff to the bank. We operated for several months before being able to set it up. I'm not sure if all the banks are the same but it was more of a pain that I thought it would be but definitely worth it.

Nathan, One option is to get the parents of the kids involved and set up a 501c(3) booster club to handle all the bank accounts and fund raising. Then all you should need is someone at the school to help with the eligibility grade checks before tournaments. If you're unable to associate with the school, it will have to be a county club or something of that nature as opposed to a school club.

We are considered an after school club and have a teacher that does the grade checks. We met with the principal and got his approval before doing any of this. Set it up as a 501c(3) with our own bank account. The bank account and 501c(3) can come later as you get established. We had a parent with a business that helped set up the 501c(3) part. If you want to stay fishing right now just get a teacher to do the grade checks and just do one step at a time.
