I am down in Houston for work and ended up catching some free time this afternoon and am going to head down to Galveston to go for trout and reds. I was wondering if anyone had any tips and recent reports they wouldn't mind sharing?

There are people there catching trout with live shrimp within the first 2 guts. I was dead sticking live finger mullet in the surf. Only ended up catching a big hardhead.
Conditions were pretty nice. Water was green to the beach with small swells. Maybe 1 ft tall?
I guess I was just unlucky.
This was on Thursday 9/28
