Man....I'm telling you all. I have had the "best of the best" rods made.....and they all break. Just get a good, cheap, H20 Ethos with iM8 graphite for $69. The warranty is the best there is for when you break it. And the price, $69, means you can buy 4 of each and then just make a trip to the nearest academy when it's convenient. Like I did today.

I use rod sleeves on all my rods. I do store them in my rod locker all the time. I am very gentle when removing any of them from the box. Within the last month I've pulled out two micro magic pro's with the last inch of so of the tip cracked off.
I own Falcons (many, my favorite) and St Croix. Never had any of them damaged. You must own a Ranger and running in 3 footers...that would do any rod in

I've seen all of the brands break including about 10 ducketts in my boat... but my micro magic sure handeled so giants in heavy cover last year.

I own a pile of Duckett Rods. Broke several of the first Micro Magics when they came out. The ones where a MH felt and fished more like a M. Haven't broken any since they got that issue worked out. I use the White Ice Series right now, in addition to Power Tackle and Loomis. Love my White Ice!

Guides on the Duckett rods are average at best. The guides break really easy in my experience.
I am a fan of the durability of the Kistler rods myself. If you buy the rod from Kistler they have a replacement program that picks up 30 or 40% of the replacement cost which is fair (unless you snap one in half first time out like I recently did by shutting it in my rod locker). Their Mag 2 rods are about 200 bucks.
Dobyns would also be a good value choice.
Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

As fouz stated...mine are original Duckett Rods...hence the guide issues. I have never broken the actual rod.

I like my Duckett rods. But the Heavy 7.4 is really a MH. Bought the 7.6 Extra Heavy and have been happy with it. I fish 65# power pro. Flipping and punching. To me it is a good value. I have spent more and not been very happy with performance.

I have settled on the Mojo Bass series for lighter stuff and the Cashion series for heavy action. Throw in a few 13 Envies. I don't break guides with those.

Waterloo and/or Bonehead Rods. Both made in Texas and if you call you will speak with the owner of each company. Great customer service which is a far cry from Duckett. Bonehead Tackle

We all develop our favorites over time. I’m partial to Kistler Rods. I’ve never had one break. American-made in Texas.
