 What do you guys do to catch big gar bait ?

Just got my boat together wanting to target big alligator gar. Wondering what you guys used to catch bait for big alligator Gar.Having a little trouble locateing carp.I can get sunfish and shad all day but that doesn't really bring in the big ones .

Big shad and big sunfish work if there are big fish around. Hook and line the carp if you are near a location that has them. Boiled deer corn for bait, hair rig with #8-#4 j hook , chum with range cubes and boiled deer corn.

Frozen talapia from the grocery store has worked for me in a pinch

Went down to lake Houston dam today to try and get some carp for bait . Got the wrong kind of carp thought . Grass carp .... do you guys think gar will eat them and are you supposed to kill grass carp if you catch them ? Mine went it the Cooler either way

Actually that grass carp is supposed to be some fine eating.
