my best guess is the merchandise will now be both brands in both stores.

The only good thing about this;
I anticipate all the Cabelas Guidewear and everything with Cabela's logo on it to go on sale

Not likely, since there is a large amount of brand equity in the Cabela's name and Bass Pro has already announced they intend to keep the brand intact. I suspect that most of the synergies that Bass Pro expects to produce will come from squeezing the suppliers and eliminating redundant overhead positions.
