Do any of you know any performance upgrades that can be done on a Suzuki 175 hp 4-stroke? The motor is strong and runs great but would like to get a little bit more out of it without damaging it. I have seen videos about taking "flow restrictors" out of honda 4 strokes and such but haven't seen anything on the Suzukis.

If it runs good and is reliable, what's the point of trying to get "a little more out of it"?

A fair question. The primary reason is to reduce my run time from marina to fishing spot. There is a particular place in south Louisiana that I fish often that the closest boat ramp is 15 miles from where I enter the saltwater marsh to fish.

I dont know if I would try and get more HP out of your motor as much as focus on the way is is set up. Things like motor height, weight distribution, prop, etc...maybe look into a nosecone from Bob's, that is all I would do to my motor

Due to emissions regulations. Manufacturers are tuning these engines as lean as possible. Making changes and/or adjustments can be risky business. Maximize your boats effeciency first.

Nothing that will make a big difference in your time unless your setup is off. Make sure it's the right prop, turning correct rpm, motor set on right level etc.

I was working for a Hyundai dealer and as an experiment we took the fuel injectors from a 3.0 V6 and replaced the injectors in a 2.3 I4. It made a noticeable difference. Kind of an expensive experiment though (unless you already own the replacement parts). No idea if it would help or hurt your particular setup.

Even if you were able to squeeze more power out of a 175 at most it would only be 10-15hp. That might net you 1-2mph at best. On a 15 mile run you may get there about 40 seconds sooner.

Unless you are racing where tenths or hundredths of a second counts then why bother. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Now if you have an uncontrollable need for speed, which I can attest to, and plenty of money just go get one of them Merc racing 175 engines and hang it on the back of an Allison. 100mph no problem.
From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."
Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

You might investigate the interchangeability of the ECU off of a 200hp.

"A little more" That sir is a deep, dark bottomless hole. I've been down it a few times. Go buy some new rods and go fishing.

I agree but that`s not what he asked.

Its exactly what he asked. Alittlemore ten horsepower, three miles an hour. Starts out innocently enough and a year later hes hooked a nitrous bottle to it.
Crack has nothing to compare with speed on the water.
