He should have just cut the hook / barb and kept fishing. That would have taken a minute providing he had some good dykes in the boat, some hydrogen peroxide, neosporin and a bandaid, back to fishing. Reminds me of myself with my white and purple 1.5 stuck in my chin at lake falcon with RT, years ago... good times

Had a buddy hook his hand this weekend with a treble but it went all the way thru. Cut it off and pulled it out. Hand sanitizer and back to fishing. I had a bass with a perfectly timed tail flip knock a treble bone-deep into the meaty part of my index finger earlier this year. It was all I could do to pull it out with pliers and was one butt clinch/teeth knash away from headed to the shore to find a Dr. myself. Once it was out no problem, slap the Neosporin and band aid on and back to business...but dang did it hurt like mad getting that barb out.
