The 21st annual "Mad Dog" Moore Memorial Bass Tournament is just one month away. Sept 9th, 2017 at Oak Ridge Marina on Lake Fork. Who is planning on fishing this year? The weigh-in procedures have changed from last year and details can be found on the entry form at www.MadDogMoore.com. Starting around 10ish there will be a band, vendor booths, prizes, BBQ and drinks. This year, two $500 gift cards to Bass Pro Shops will be given away to two lucky people that fish the tournament. Must be present to win.

this year Mad Dog is changing how they weigh the fish to be more on the conservative side so there are no long lines with anglers waiting in the hot sun to get weighed. Bravo to them!
Not Bravo to the Sun and Fun Top Six Team tournament which is scheduled on the same weekend!

I'm fishing Mad Dog for the first time this year. How many teams usually fish it? It should be somewhere around 200-225 teams. I'll be there and I'm bringing a Mean Lime Green Skeeter with me!!!

Last year we had 194 teams fish. It was our 20th anniversary and had a Stabil Bonus that caused a lot more people to weigh in fish that normally wouldn't have. But, as we have always tried to do, when we discover a problem we do our best to correct it. That is why we went to a different weigh-in procedure this year. The entry form has the specific rules but basically, you do not bring your fish to weigh in when you check in. You or your partner come to check in, get a chip and then go exchange your chip for one of the official Mad Dog weigh bags. You have approximately 15 mins once you get your weigh bag to bring your fish back to the weigh-in line. There will only be a certain amount of bags and the line should hopefully keep running smoothly to avoid fishermen holding fish in bags for a long period of time. Be sure to show up for weigh-in even if you don't weigh fish. There will be 2 $500 Bass Pro gift cards given away to two lucky contestants. Plus, kicking off around 10ish will be live music, vendor booths ect. if you have family that want to attend that. Keep in mind that the fishermen get to eat BBQ free we have free drinks in coolers that most people don't realize (Help yourself). It is a charity event with proceeds going to the Shriner's Children's Hospital. Please thanks our sponsors, that is what has kept us running for so long.

Question ? Can we transport our fish in our weigh in bag and change bags before we weigh in our fish?

The main purpose we went to this new system was to keep fish from dying in the weigh bags while they waited in a long weigh in line. No fish will be accepted at the weigh-in tanks unless they are in an official Mad Dog bag. My concern is that you cant get a Mad Dog bag until you get a chip when you check in. If there is a line, that is where it will be (people with a chip, waiting on a bag) You would be carrying your fish around that whole time without any fresh water to put them in.

The reason that I asked last year we had to park out on the side of the road. We're not going to get in the weigh in line or carry the fish around till we have one of the Mad Dog weigh in bags.
