Ok I have 2 battery's in a series to make 24 volts. 2 circuit breakers that read 17 volts at the breaker. The battery's read 17 volts at each battery. Now when it comes to the female plug it reads 17 on both sets of wires. When I plug the male into it the two wires that run from male plug to trolling motor itself reads 32 volts. Everything was working fine until I pulled trolling motor off boat but forgot to unplug and it jerked the plug kinda hard. I put it back on and it worked fine all day then one mess up of lose power twisted plug a little and it worked fine rest of day. Went out again and it worked fine for 15 mins and now you can turn plug with a lot of pressure on it but when you let go it dies. That's when I started digging and found all the voltage readings. I think the female plug is bad now because it acted this way before and I replaced it 8 months ago and worked flawlessly until now.
Question is, my 80lb 24 volt Tim is reading 32 on my side will this kill it and how does two 12 bolt battery's make 32 volts? Thanks for the answers

What type of batteries? Are you taking readings while charger is connected?

Either you're checking voltage while the charger is plugged in or your multimeter is way off
