The Ray Hubbard Bass Club had our seventh members only tournament last Saturday August 12th on Lake Fork. The day dawned as a typical August Texas day. By 7:00AM, the sun was hot, the humidity was up and the breeze was non existent. 39 boats hit the water. As many had been saying the fishing was tough for almost everyone. Fork is a different tournament lake because of the slot of course so tactics and techniques were radically different. It was strange seeing almost every boat with at least one spinning rod in use. Then about 2:00, a big thunderstorm came rolling in with heavy wind and rain, lightning and thunder. It's been a crazy summer weather wise. At the end of the day, our winners were Warren Whitaker and Jay Messersmith with a two fish stringer! One of those fish however was a 7.92 over that put them over the top and also got big bass of the event. Here are full results and pictures On hand to weigh fish for us were David Mulkey, Paul Spann and John Bruner Paul and Big John fished together. Here's John with one of their two that went 2.14 David Choate fished solo and had four fish for 3.44, but that included our second biggest bass of the day, a 2.16. Here's a great example of tournament fishing on Fork... Ed and Tyler Ham had four for 3.98 Here's Kasey Bunch who fished with Dad Kenny. They had four for an adjusted 4.51 Russell Olds and Matt Jackson had a limit. Their five weighed an adjusted 5.55

Finishing just out of the money were David Mulkey and Arturo Murga who weighed four for 5.65 Not pictured but getting the first check and continuing a GREAT season were Andy and Ricky Medina with five for 6.12Finishing fifth with five for 6.19 were Paul Villarreal and Joe Ruiz Finishing fourth with five for 6.59 was the patriarch of the Bunch family Howard, and son Randy. For the second tournament in a row Chris Atkinson and I finished third. Our five weighed 6.75 Finishing second with a bag of solid Fork unders that weighed 7.11 were Eddy Wooldridge and Bryan Toombs Here are your winners. Their two fish weighed 8.88 but at Fork it's all about getting an over and they did. Congrats to Warren Whitaker and Jay Messersmith! Here's Jay's 7.92 big bass. What a beast! Thanks to everyone that came out! 39 boats in August is a great turnout! Thanks again to David, Paul and John for doing a great job at weigh in. Our next tournament is Saturday September 16th on our home lake Ray Hubbard. We will be fishing from 6:30 - 2:30. Hope to see you there!
