What's Tyler gonna do, they have one highschool named Robert E Lee, one named John Tyler and they are named Tyler lol. There's already going to be a meeting but it's just to change the name of Robert E Lee so far. John Tyler owned slaves, let's be fair here.

Wait until they come after descendants of slave owners for restitution. They can't do that, most of the left are descendants of slave owners. FACT: During that Era, Only 4% of the White Population in the US had slaves.

I saw on the news that a petition in Houston texas had 1000 signatures to remove all confederate statues. So now they are seriously considering removing the statues. Last I checked their is 6.9 million people in Houston and 1000 people can make things change. I guess majority has nothing to do with anything anymore. These politicians need to grow a set and quit bowing down everytime someone yells racism.

I really couldn't give a **** less about all the other flags. But the Republic of Texas flag should have remained. IMO
Been saying since that POS Dylan Roof shot up those church folks. The only two flags that mean anything to me are The Lone Star and Old Glory. So I have pretty much stayed quiet about the whole Confederate flag argument. It neither offends me or has a meaning of heritage to me. My heritage is a Texan American. Not southern American. RickS, I agree. The Confederate flag means nothing to me. The US flag, our Lone Star flag, and I know the flag of Spain, France, and Mexico flew over the state for a good deal of time.

Removing all this stuff doesn't affect me in any way I care about really-
Ok then, Remove all flags/ statues that are "offensive"
Is that gonna make getto's safer?
Is it going to raise the education level of anyone?
Will it lower crime?
Will it lower the number of unwed mothers?
Way to go folks, spend your time/resources on something that improves your lives!
What has happed to you does not define who you are-

I am so sick of uneducated racists (all races of mankind) using the Confederate flag and statutes as a symbol of protest. The Civil War was not about slavery, it was about state's rights. In fact, if one researches, a remarkable point arises. The North had far more slaves than the South at the time of the War and

The emancipation proclamation freed the slaves on both sides. Outstanding.
Now, has someone researched the congressional debates that occurred during the emancipation process?Nope. Noteworthy to say it was the North and its congressional leaders of the day that made the process almost unbearable for Lincoln. Glad he preserved.
Get off the Confederate statue and flag deal. Unemployed, uneducated, empty folk just rioting. That's all.
Quit being thugs and start doing something to add to society instead of ripping off hard working men and women. Get off my shoulders. Wake up you bleeding heart liberals and defend our rights. Your actions (or inaction) and agreement with the thug contingent take away our liberties bought with our loved ones blood.

As a proud southerner I wish the south had won the war. But make no mistake the war was about slavery and it was just at the time. Slavery was necessary to the southern economy and most agricultural nations in the world dealt in slaves. Lincoln only freed southern slaves with the EP only to hurt the south, he didn't free the rest of the slaves until later. If you look at the declaration of causes for the southern states they all state preserving "african slavery" as their primary focus. I'm proud that my ancestors stood up for their rights and fought to protect their way of life. I'm disappointed that it ended in surrender, they should have fought tooth and nail to the bitter end. Ever since the south has been neutered and 100 years later civil rights dealt another large blow to our beliefs. Man it sucks. If we are going to rewrite history lets go back and save Stonewall Jackson. If he had not died by friendly fire then the south would have won Gettysberg and possibly the war itself.
