Went out yesterday with my hunting partner who wants to learn to fish. Not that I'm the be all to know all on fishing for sandies on Hubbard, but I'm what he's got to fish with. crazy WEll, I wasn't real excited about the prospects with the weather but figured we'd give it a try. Ended the day with 44 in the cooler. Threw back one undersized sandie, one 17 1/2 Hybrid, and one smaller Hybrid. The vast majority were 14" or there abouts. Maybe only a couple at the 11-12 range. I think that was the biggest single day catch out of my boat in a year and was hitting a spot I'd never tried before. Who'd a thunk it. woot

What time was that, Philip? I came across the I-30 bridges about 11 a.m. or there 'bouts towing that new boat, kinda gold dust color. There were several boats fishing along the south side of I-30 when I crossed.

We didn't catch our first one till Noon. But you probably saw us. Took us a while to try different things till we found what they wanted. Dark crankbait. Once birds started working the TNT slab thrown out and retrieved worked as well. Again, gold better than silver.

What was strange was I was marking lots of fish in 20' of water but they wouldn't hit. Had to go shallower, closer to the rocks to get the action.

I saw Johnny Procel out along I-30 with his group when I went by - he was in a Fish Master CC - had their parkas and cold weather gear on big time.

Went to Hubbard yesterday afternoon and had alot of luck along the rocks of I-30. Most of the fish were caught close to the rocks like quackinator said. Located

We even landed several Hybrid with the biggest being 18 1/2 inches.
