I think there's a small mouse in the garage.

He/she has taken peanut butter off the wire traps sometimes without triggering the device, and at time triggers the trap, but no rodent.

I've now set out some glue traps.

Any other recommendations?

It could be a shrew, I've caught them in mouse traps in my shed. Mash a chocolate chip or two into the bait holder, it's harder to get off.

This has worked and WILL work-

Wrap some clear masking tape around the peanut butter/trap trigger. When they are working to get the bait that's under the tape, they usually set off the trap. thumb

Are you finding the empty "fired" trap in the same general location?? "Mouse" traps will not kill a rat, they will pull the trap off of them. Usually ends up missing or WAY away from where it was set. Try setting one of the larger rat traps also.

Was having the same problem. Wired a small piece of beef jerky to the trigger and mouse gone.
