Hi,
I had asked this question a few years ago but life & teenagers got in the way of pursuing. Hopefully it's a better time. My wife & I have done some limited saltwater fishing (bonefish) and would like to get some casting lessons.

I'd like to be choosy on who we go too.

A couple names that came up last time I asked were Ken Cole and Bill Gammell.

I don't have Ken Cole's contact.

Thanks for any guidance. Thoughts on Ken or Bill or any other great instructors. We are on west side of houston but happy to drive.

If you do not have any luck I can put on a suit and crab my attache case and qualify as an expert thereby able to come to Houston and take your money. I know an instructor down here in the Valley (he is also a Phd) who will be back in town in Sept.

There are multiple instructors available in the Houston area.

No, they do not. The casting style that is taught during any casting lesson is depend on the skill and knowledge of the individual instructor leading that class. Obviously, some instructors are better at certain styles than others, regardless of the location offering the lesson.

If you are interested in a specific casting style or technique, then I recommend discussing what you want with the instructor before booking the lesson. You might even talk to several and then book the lesson with whichever instructor you feel best meets your needs.

I have not been able to afford the $50 DVD yet but bought the $14 book (I already own other Lefty books) and it cleared up a number of things for me. Others here might suggest that you see a professional instructor before you develop bad habits. Too late for me but the book did open my eyes. Yes I will also spend some time with an instructor eventually. My previous experience was on creeks and rivers and lakes for trout, steelhead, bass and bream... your bone fish experience would be much more closely related
