Have there been any reports of any kingfish moving into the shallow gulf yet? Any catches at BHP? I am getting anxious. As soon as the gulf calms a bit after this front I will have my boat out there.

The Kingfish were here. This weather may push them back out.

Awesome I am stuck up in Bastrop providing medical coverage with the army. In 2 weeks I will be back hope they have moved back in. What lures or live/dead bait will work best for trolling 200-300 yards of the beach front or at the close rigs out of the packery. Tips and techniques please.

Hope these early migrators come back shallow and just don't move on. Nothing wrong with a fresh dead ribbonfish if it is rigged properly but personally I always liked Rapalas pulled hard this time of year.

I agree. Rapalas are great this early one. The water starts warming and the fish seem like they have stored energy. I also have very good luck with big gold spoons..

My buddy works on some headboats and private charters and he said the bite has been slow the last couple of weeks. If you go bring one of those bait bucket areators with some 6" live mullet of piggy's. when all else fails.. it will work. but switch to a single up front with a strong stinger trebble at the tail. note don't attach stinger to bait
