Had a feeling the Stros might stand pat or just make a minor trade.
The starting rotation hasn't been healthy all year so the pitching will improve just by getting some guys back healthy and rested. With the big lead we have in the division we can rest guys as long as we need to. We already have three starting pitchers with a better ERA than Darvish so no need to make a team inside the division better. It would have made no sense to go after him or Sonny Grey. Not to mention we really needed a lefty in the rotation and no great starting lefties were available. With the best farm system in the league, and the young core of all-star players already at the the major league level, the Stros will dominate this division for years to come. The window to make the world series is just beginning to open for this team, no desperation trades necessary.
Sometimes the best trade is no trade, the Stros made the right call by not giving up top notch AAA players for a pitcher with worse stats than 3 starters already in the rotation.

To win a WS?? Stros are good this year but after trade deadlines it appears they aren't all in to win like LA. Will root for Stros even though I'm rangers fan but they will need to be hot at end of the year to go all the way this year.

Since my Rangers are falling apart, I hope Houston wins it all. I'm still a Texas boy after all. All the national sports shows seem to think Houston is built to be a regular season team and doesn't have the bullpen or roster depth to succeed in the playoff format. We will see!

Astros picked up Francisco Liriano, a lefthanded reliever from the Bluejays. Not very overpowering stats.
