OK so I have been fishing at Texoma in the hot summer months a few times and it seems we were catching them in deep water by the dam with jigs. Drop it to the bottom and burn it in. I have only done that at Texoma! We went to PK last week and fished with bait and never got a bite. I always jig while bait fishing just to keep me busy. We were at a spot west of South D&D where we nearly always catch something. No bites on perch or shad so I was jigging on bottom as usual and no bites on the jig either! So with a little frustration I reeled that jig up fast and boom! I caught a striper. So now it's game on! I dropped it back to bottom and burned it in. After a few times I hung a good size striper that tangled all the lines on the boat up and when we got the mess nearly fixed it got off. I did manage to catch a total of 6 striper that morning. So with this being said should we be fishing deep water by the dam at PK in the hot summer months with jigs? Maybe Chris with Express can tell us something! I was fishing with those guys when we caught them at Texoma. I will try this more now that I have caught some doing it. What are you all thoughts about this? Any opinions, feedback, stories!

pay attention to the thermocline this time of year. It sets in during the summer and neither bait or game fish will get in it due to the lack of oxygen. If your fishing below or in it your not going to have any luck. Your bait will also die if you sit them at that particular depth. The pattern a couple weekends ago on Texoma was to catch them throwing sassys, burning slabs, flutter spoons, etc through the schools that had bait pushed up on the shore around Perots house to Eisenhower. not sure if they are still there.

It's a summertime pattern for sure. The fish are in full kill mode and moving super fast. Burning it up thru them triggers the strike and they relate to the thermocline big time. Doesn't have to be the dam just where you see what you like on the graph.
