I am planning a trip to Cabo next year just to go fishing and was wondering which months would have the highest odds of hooking up with a black, blue or striped marlin. Also sailfish and rooster fish would be nice but not the main focus. Does the moon cycle play into the number of fish present around Cabo and if it does which cycle would put the odds closer to my favor? Any and all advice would be appreciated as this is going to be my first trip down there.

The tournaments start up in October so imagine around that time would be good. Will you be in San Lucas or San Jose? I've only fished out of San Jose. Caught fish every time I've went. We weren't going after billfish though.

I been there exactly once, so I ain't no expert but....

We went about a month ago. My goal was to catch a roosterfish, never even gave marlin a thought. But....boat cap'n said it was too cold for roosterfish so we went for tunas.

Not a bite for hours. Then we hooked up with a striped marlin. After an epic battle of an hour or so the nine foot long fish was in the boat.

I was told for the very best fishing, come in November, after the tournaments are over and the town settles down a bit.

We had a friggin blast although the place is a bit costly. Liked Cabo a lot more than Cancun.

I'm going back for sure.

Oct - Nov. avoid the week of the full moon if you can. There is a run of stripe marlin earlier in the year-I don't recall which month. Had friends be at the right place and time during the striped run and caught several 8 or 9 in one day.

If you want a real good shot at a blue, Kona, Hawaii in July and Aug is hard to beat
