My buddy and I went to Fork yesterday and tried the afternoon deep bite. We hit several main lake points on the east wing with no success. I managed to catch a sandbass on a half ounce bass jig in 23 foot of water(which I have never done before). We stayed at each point for maybe 45 minutes to an hour before moving on. Marked baitfish and what looked like some scattered bass close to the bottom. I threw a Carolina rig, jig, and dropshot with no success. I thought about picking up a spoon but never did. Just recently got a boat so deep fishing is new to me. We were out there until probably 10pm with no activity and no bites. There right when the sun was going down we tried a little top water bite and even that still didn't get even a sniff.

What Ken said. Try 11-4ish right now.....14-20 ft. Lots shad 15ft to the surface also with fish suspended in them.....found some big fish in 4ft main lake crushing big gizzard shad last Friday on top around 2 in the afternoon.

Unfortunately, Ken is right. Hydrate the day before and get after them in the heat of the day. It's brutal out there, but that's when they're biting. It's dangerously hot, so take precautions. Drink lots of water!!

It gets the best of us every now and again... I live on Fork and have fished this lake for 30 years and can still have those days... but the good days out weigh the bad for sure... best lake IMO

Last week we found them deep at several places around the lake but couldn't get them to bite. The ones we did get to bite were in 12-15ft of water and that was during the heat of the day. The following day we went shallow before sunrise and caught several before it got really hot.

Hate to tell you this bud but the deep bite is best during the middle of the day. This! This is not a new pattern. It has been this way for the past 30 years. Not saying you can't catch them early in the morning or late in the day but mid day to mid afternoon, in the hottest part of the day has always been best for numbers of good fish on Fork. Every time I run into someone that has landed a true Giant at Fork I always ask what time they caught the fish. Almost without fail it is between noon and 5 pm. Don't bother asking where or what they caught it on, they will lie about that!

It was on the edge of the old brood pond on the left side of mouth of Dale creek in 18 FOW. Of course that was 1993 so prolly not much help to anyone now. Oh and it was about 1pm give or take 30 seconds.

I am a Senager. (Senior teenager) I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 50 years later. I get an allowance every month. I have PU truck and a bass boat, I am blessed. Conscience never acquits, it either accuses or excuses.
