What are the key elements you are looking for while baiting a hole for channel cats? Do you look for something different when just chumming verse baiting? Curious of some of the successful Channel guys opinions.
Thank you

In the summer on Wright Patman lake I look for morning shade it's good for the cats and for the fisherman. On baiting a hole I just chum and if I catch in that spot then as I leave I chum it again. If you fish two or three times a week and do that they will be there. It's just baiting a hole with chum. Sour wheat/milo/corn.

I'm no help.... My first experience with it was today. I baited 4 spots. 1 in 10' of water 1 in 15th' of water 1 right beside the channel in 20' of water And 1 on a hump that was 25 to 15
We caught fish on all 4 locations

Look for likely areas,....Brushy shorelines, rocks, gravel bars, deep holes, dropoffs, shallow flats with weeds or pads, etc. Chum a spot and if you don't get a bite within 20 to 30 minutes, move and try another spot. Never hurts to go back to a spot that just looked too good.
Just one more cast!
