a college degree opens a lot more doors to lucrative jobs than a non degree candidate, it doesn't matter what your degree is in if you want to work hard you can be a success, my daughter graduated with honors and has never worked in her degreed field (english) my son is presently majoring in physics and has had contact with several engineering firms. THe degree is paper that opens doors.

And as an update. Met up with the kid again today for an interview. He did it to please his parents, no plans for after college, took 5 years to graduate. He's got a job making good coin now (UA pending  )......he's more than welcome to stay or work until he figures it out. 'Merica.

And as an update. Met up with the kid again today for an interview. He did it to please his parents, no plans for after college, took 5 years to graduate. He's got a job making good coin now (UA pending )......he's more than welcome to stay or work until he figures it out. 'Merica. Sounds like it turned out well. Graduating college in 4 years is pretty hard to do now.

I would also say.....Danny boy.....that fancy book learnin hasn't been very good to you......especially if you're broke enough to have to cut the cord, use junk cricket wireless and rent a room out.
More classics from you dum juan. I do those things not because I am broke. Quite the opposite. I plan to retire when I am your age bud. Learned all about how to make that happen in post college extracurricular education. Hope you get that anger under control. It can cause a stroke or heart attack etc. I thought that y'all were about the same age.

Student loan interest rates should be variable based on the degree. Want a degree in liberal arts? 12% interest on borrowed funds. Want a loan to be a teacher, engineer, doctor, nurse, mechanic etc... 3%. Let the free market influence what people go for. It'll drive them toward where actual needs lie.
