Do you like a Medium-Fast, Fast, or Extra-Fast taper when fishing jigs for Flounder?

I like a stiffer tip rod because a flounder will chomp down hard on a jig. If the tip is too soft you can't drive the hook home. Then they'll swim ten feet open their mouth and the jig come right at you.

Pat, how soon do you strike? Ive heard one should give them several seconds to take the bait past the hook. I am "cornfused". Thanks, eye.
Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, he will sit in a boat all day and drink beer.

I'm not a patient person. Fish don't have hands, the longer I wait the better chance something bad will happen.
When I KNOW I'm in a flounder spot, my typical setup is a norton sand eel, pumpkin or tequila, 1/8 oz oldham screw lock head tied directly to 20# braid. I try to give it a good sharp hookset, POP that hook into it's mouth. A little tug or sweep like you do on a trout will lose you a cooler full of flounder.

I've been told you need an extra-fast tip to detect the bit but you're also more likely to rip it out of their mouth with that. So I am curious how fast of tip people are using.

I use a reg. ML BC rod. 7ft. Taper doesn't enter my mind here.

You might yank it loose from a trout. Not a flounder.
