It had to be the Irvington in Indianapolis in the late 50s. The Big Picture would tell us the latest mi!itary news, then a few previews, a cartoon, then the main feature which was a black and white 40s or 50s western. Lash Large is the first name that comes to mind. The newsclip, previews, cartoon, and a movie for a quarter wasn't a bad deal. Another quarter got you a soda pop and big popcorn.

Mom took me downtown to the big fancy theater to see Ben Hur. That was the first major picture I remember.
