I'd probably take 80 all the way past Mineola to HWY 2869 (Holly Lake Ranch exit). Turn left onto 2869 and Lake Hawkins is just up the road.

Or I-20 to Lindale, N on 69 to Mineola, right on 80 in Mineola, left on 2869.

They just reopened the county park. Good single ramp with plenty of parking.

Fish the grass in the upper end of the lake past the bridge. Idle only past the bridge. Make sure you follow the buoys which mark the boat channel through the timber (upper third or so of the lake. Open below the buoys.

Thanks for the update on the reopen.

I'm guessing they reopened the campgrounds and RV park also?

Yes they did open the park as well. Saw only six RV's and a few tents when I was there but that was during the week.

Jigfish-

If you go there, stop at "A Taste of Italy". It's the little restaurant on the lake. Good food!

And you can bring your own wine.

It's good.

Is there a launch fee at the county park? Gates always open?
