Ok, well I know how to tie on and all, but my question has to deal with whether or not to use a float of some kind. I want to be able to keep the jig at a certain depth while working the bait back to the bank where I will be fishing. Should I use a float of some kind so I can maintain the desired depth or is there another type rig that I should use? I am new to crappie fishing, and need a little advice. The jigs I have are all different colors. What colors seem to work the best in muddy water?

The hardest thing about fishing is figuring out what the fish want to eat.

I love fishing a jig under a bobber...especially when there is a little chop on the water from the wind... darker jigs works better in the really stained water like we have now... and slow it down, takes them longer to pick up on the movement and react!! Hope this helps!!

the jig on the right is what i use for muddy water. use a darker jig for muddy water. use a light color jig for clean clear water.

and i use a clear float. that is sorta like a egg shape. it has a rubber band in the middle you put the line throught the band then twist the end of the float.

Hey YellowCat, What kind of hooks are those on that jig? Are they custom hooks, because I have never seen any like that, but I like them.

Matzuo also calls them Sickle hooks and they are good hooks. I use them any time I can. The only jig I tied that don't use them is the sizes they will not fit in the mold right, like 1/16 #6 hooks will not work, but a #8 will. Go Figure!

You should check with your jig head supplier. I don't see why they won't fit. LOL By the way, I have your jigheads ready when you are. Just shoot me an email.
