I'm in SW,OK, and haven't seen a single grasshopper this year. Anyone else experiencing a "hopper" shortage?

The young wild turkeys must be getting hungry, as that's one of their primary foods.

Saw my first yesterday. He was trying to escape a grackle but the grackle won.

Grasshoppers make Great baits! Almost anything will eat them without thinking twice! Used em all the time as a kid along with crickets.
And I can't say I've seen any this year so far in NW Louisiana. Barely have heard a cicada either which is rare this time of year.

Thought about it a couple of weeks ago and have not seen but a couple, but again my birds run free all day and they keep the numbers down. Even last year it seemed to be a shortage of hoppers.

Im like T Bird. We have plenty in central TX. We used to put a minnow net on the grille guard of the truck and drive thru the pasture. Grasshoppers would stick to it and we would have plenty of bait.
