I believe that UPS automatically has $100 insurance on their packages. I know for a fact Fed Ex does because I mailed something off through them yesterday and thats what they told me.
I received a new rod today through UPS and the tip was broken off 3 inches from top, called company and they are sending me new one ASAP with return label for broken one. 1st time using Land Big Fish and very impressed so far with customer service.

Im not sure what im going to do at this point.
Im not going to get a refund through paypal because they did nothing wrong and im not going after the seller as he also did nothing wrong. If usps wont make it right im going to throw it in his van or on the hood next time he stops by. All he did was delivered trash to my house. I can certainly understand your frustration, but please be careful about throwing something in or on their vehicle. Nothing good could come from throwing something at a mail carrier.

There is a reason why the term "going postal" became a household thing.

Happened to me before. Damage claim has to be done by the shipper. Save the packaging. Take pics. Send them to the shipper. If he can't/won't resolve the issue in a reasonable time go to PayPal. They almost always side with the buyer.

Sounds like online buying 101. We've all been schooled in about the same way. It is a hassle. (pun intended...I couldn't resist)

Sounds like you actually need to talk to some of the people involved and see if you can get the situation resolved before you make threats against USPS or their driver. Paypal or your credit card may have insurance that will take care of the problem. The shipper may have insurance on the package. No need to start making threats before you make an attempt to get the problem taken care of.

One of my good friends owns a tackle shop. He said its unreal how many brand new rods show up broken. He said 10-15% of the rods that come in are broken.

Like expecting free healthcare. No insurance,no pay. Yes, I feel entitled to have something arrive in the way it was shipped. I know that seems far fetched for a govt ran business but it should be that way. Imagine getting your 69' comaro painted to have the paint start to flake in a few days then the painter says "You should have bought insurance on that".

Thats why they sell insurance. In the future, insist the seller insures the shipment for the cost of the product.

Your point would be valid if your mail carrier was the only one to handle the package between the shipper and you....

Last I heard, when something is shipped via USPS, It doesn't change shipping compainies during the route. It is the same company ..... So yeh, he had a valid point. If someone is paid to provide a service, you shouldn't need to pay an adddional fee to hold them responsible for DOING A POOR JOB! The level of service should be professional and without damaging the shipment. USPS hires idiots. ....and least the few I've dealt with. My mail carrier actually brought my BPS catalog to me...admitting it's a week late because he wanted to "borrow it". Same for several Jeep mags.

Glad you could find something to pick at though... bravo. On a side note, would you ship anything of any value that was in any way fragile without insurance? The seller should just refund his money and seek reimbursement from the shipper (if it was insured).

That's what I'm saying. Are you saying that a USPS employees carelessness is non-preventable? An act of God? Yes, it's preventable. All the Postal carrier has to do is give a [censored]. Simple. Most probably do....I've witnessed that they don't.
