I was running at 5000rpms when the motor abruptly shut off. I went to the prime bulb and noticed it was not holding the prime. The fuel gauge shows over half a tank. What should I trouble shoot first?

If it stays running as long as you keep pumping the bulb I would suspect air is getting in somewhere between the gas cap & the carbs. I had to replace my bulb earlier this year due to it going bad..

When I press the primer bulb, I hear and feel a sucking sound coming from the black hose in the pic

It's probably a bad diaphragm in the fuel pump. The picture looks like a mechanical fuel pump (they operate on crankcase vacuum)

Thanks, it's really disappointing considering this is a new 2016 motor with very few hours.

I took off the water fuel separator filter and noticed the rubber seal had become dislodged from the top of the filter and came off? Has anyone had issues with the Yamaha filters?
