I just look at the line. I thought that's what most did.

I have barcode program that creates barcode labels and I attach it to each rod. I hired programmer to create an app for my hummingbird, when I swipe my barcode in front of my hummingbird it sends a bluetooth download to my IPhone. The programmer also created an app that takes the download from the IPhone and posts it on Facebook. I set rule on facebook that alerts me via text with the information from my barcode.

White electrical tape and a sharpie marker around the blank. Write the pound test and either a F for fluorocarbon or a M for mono. Write the date you spooled it on the under side. Easy to peel off when you re-spool and put another piece on. Best way I have found to keep up with several combos.

I put yellow electrical tape on the rods with the pound test, manuf, and the date. For instance Invz-15 and under that 6/17
If I were to put it on the underside of the reel I'd need to take the reel off each time to read what is on it.
As of late however I have pretty much gone to all 15 pound Invz because of the improved results fishing with this line. Except for topwater and braid.

Just remember what you put on Try that with 30 or so rods in the box. If you don't have anything helpful to contribute, why even comment? I tried my label maker. the labels stuck somewhat but the text all disappeared. I am glad this thread came up because I am re-spooling this Friday when I get home and had just decided that the only real way was to make an excel spreadsheet and print it and stick it in the rod box. May do that anyway for insurance but some good ideas here. That's what I do, just remember what I have on. The type of lure tied on and type of rod are reminders

I use the same # test and brand fluor on all 9 rods. Same for braid. Less complicated and works for me.

I don't use enough different size lines to where it's an issue. Rod action usually tells me what line is on it.

Wrap a piece of tape around your handle assembly and write it on there. Boom. Simple.
If you can't find em wind em.

Write it on the reel with a sharpie. It wipes off easily with an alcohol soaked rag or towel.
