Never really saw any real difference in bites between plastic or pork. I'm sure everyone has their own take.

Caught my first big bass, a 4 lber on a silver Johnson spoon with a pork eel. That was back in late 70's on a private sand pit lake in Nebraska.

That's a blast from the past but I didn't like using them. Way to many times (honestly a couple of times) the pork would turn and end up on the point of the hook.

Amazing with the millions of bass fisherman in this country, that no one markets pork trailers. Some of you older guys remember when pork trailers were standard when fishing a jig and I still believe in cold water pork performs different than plastic.Anyways anybody got few bottles for sale?

That's a blast from the past but I didn't like using them. Way to many times (honestly a couple of times) the pork would turn and end up on the point of the hook. This is true, but the effectiveness of pork trailers is still good enough to make me use them regardless of the fish I've lost because the hook had stuck into the pork. I have used Uncle Josh 6" pork eels, 9" pork eels, and 4" split tail eels since the mid 1970s, and still catch a lot of fish on them. Even now, I almost never use a plastic jig trailer. I was lucky enough to keep about 3 dozen jars of pork that I bought about 15 years ago, and still have most of them. The most effective for me are black and black/blue. Uncle Josh "Meat" works, too - when you can find it. It's made from pork fat, rather than the skin. If I want a trailer on a spinnerbait, I use plastic...but for jigs, it has to be pork. I also do well using a 9" pork eel on a weedless hook in and around pads and shallow brush.

I used my last Uncle Josh twin tails on a drop shot at fork. I couldn't find them anywhere so I called Uncle Josh. They told me that they were having a lot of trouble finding the exact type of pork that they need to make these baits. But that they have some new sources so we should start seeing them again. Twin Tails, Spring Lizards and Pork-O's were my go to baits during the winter at Possum Kingdom. I don't know if bass hit them better than plastic, but they seem to stay on better, (maybe that pork gets hung up in their mouth). The smell seems right. I will be glad to see them back in production again. I was looking at one new boat, can't remember the brand, that had space to hold your pork jars. Guess they figured that Uncle Josh would never go away. A pork trailer on a Johnson Silver Minnow in the pads still works. Also lasts much longer. Anyway, definitely one of those old baits that I hate to see go away.
Good Luck
