I saw a post somewhere with a pic of a brushpile made with limbs attached vertically to a pallet? Can't find it anymore and it was pretty recent? Any of you guys know?

Made some of those a few times. Best advice I can give you is to connect your pallets in THREES.
Basically, you screw 3 of them together to make the corner of a box shape. The reason for this set up is that no matter which way it flips once on the bottom, it will always have at least two sides standing up or it will sit like a pyramid. Either way, you get a solid 3-4' structure off the bottom.
My 2cents

I see the concrete attached with cable ties, but I've watched about 20 times and can't see anything around the limbs.

Looks like some sort of adhesive, along with a screw or lag bolt from the backside.

Prolly drills a hole in the pallet and sticks the brush in it and fastens it. IMO you could sink 4 trees with the weight it gonna take to get that one pallet down but I'm got gonna go agains KR! He fishes shallow a lot. 7-9' in summer it seems. Most our piles on their side would probably still be above water or dang close to it!!
