 Best option for rod return?

I have a rod I need to send to Loomis, and I have the original tube that Tackle Warehouse sent it to me in. But it's a good 8ft long and heavy cardboard. Is there a better option like PVC or something else that wouldn't cost a fortune to ship? Thanks

material dont matter that much for most carriers its gonna cost a fortune to ship because its 8' long, not so much the weight. fortune is relative i suppose, i shipped rods from detroit to here for about $20 fedex ground returning from lake st clair.

Shimano/Loomis prefers cardboard for some reason. Cut it to the size you need. I think they charge by the inch so it might save a couple bucks.

Thanks for the PMs. I'm not using the Expeditor Option as the reel seat blew up and need to send them the rod to get a no cost replacement.

Maybe ask if you can chop it up and put it in an express box? I know Dobyns does that. It's worth asking.

Yeah some companies will accept a cut portion that includes the brand, model, etc. so only about 12" at most... Dobyn's as stated does this, worth calling Loomis to check as it is much cheaper to ship of course.

Ive had rods shipped to me in a thin wall pvc pipe. Worked fine and can be cut to length.

You must send the whole rod to gloomis it was about 35 to ups it there
