I believe "Was I right or was I wrong" was the question right or did I miss something?

I think you handled it quite admirably.

Everything on your bass boat is broken......You just don't know it yet.

After reading the story...

1. It sounds as if each employee was trying to be helpful, but a couple of them were simply "wrong" in their information
2. Fry's is one of my most hated stores ever. I never go there anymore, and not because of employees. I just don't like how it's set up
3. In this scenario the customer was wrong for being angry at the guy who helped him. It's not his fault you were given wrong info, and again, the first two tried to help, but they were wrong.

...------

Fry's drive me nuts with the bag search at the door when I just walked 20 feet from the register. Whazzup wid dat?

You either don't trust me or don't trust your employees. Either one is a bad practice.

I will walk the whole store looking for something before accepting any help. I really don't expect them to have any product knowledge. They might be able to tell you where the restroom room is but that's about it.

Next time you go to Fry's and they ask to see your stuff and receipt as you are leaving refuse. As soon as you make the purchase it is your property and they have no right to check it. Some Walmart will try the same thing and I reply no and they leave it at that. Now Sams and Costco are pay to shop stores and can set their own membership rules, plus what the Hejj am I going to steal from the register to the door twenty feet away?

You might have gotten the correct response the first time if you knew what question to ask. I would have asked, where are the Go Pro's located? But, I would have had a pretty good idea already that they would be in the camera section. Cables for a certain product are usually near that product.
Your mistake first, next two mistakes were on them.

You were wrong & your actions were inappropriate. There is never a reason to not act in a professional manner. How would you feel if the clerk had called you a "dumb..."?
