If they did it, I would see them most likely using a two lake Texoma/Lewisville format. They would have to remove Texoma from that Okie division to make a North Texas really workbunless they did a more central area thing (Richland Chambers, Cedar Creek, Whitney, Palestine, etc).

I would be in.

I was looking at the Oklahoma regions because that drive time is less than Rayledo, but the main issue was schedules overlapping my club schedule.

That would be awesome if they did, I know JC, Media and maybe Champs would suffer some from it but I would love to have a pathway to the FLW cup. I'm in if they did.

Richland Chambers
April 26, 2008
Lake Palestine
March 29, 2008
Lewisville Lake
March 8, 2008
Lake Whitney

What about:
Broken Bow
Texoma
Lewisville
Richland Chambers
Texoma

I live in southern oklahoma and get so sick of driving to the North eastern part of the state. I've been thinking about talking to some of my friends at Flw to see if this would be doable. We used to fish Broken Bow every year and rumor is they may go back next year. We also used to fish texoma occasionally but all the guys in the Tulsa area through a fit about leaving there back yard so the stopped doing it. They would have to draw over 100 boats and coanglers to consider it.

They started BFL in North Texas when gas prices were through the roof. North TX anglers average a 2 hour drive to the lake for most of the tournaments they scheduled.

The previous BFLs in north TX were ran VERY poorly. I fished two and dropped them because they had no idea what they were doing and wasted a tremendous amount of time. Registration was a nightmare. If they bought a clue and tried it again, they may see a different turnout.

The local Rayburn guys are tough to fish against. I am somewhat local have a house at Rayburn and can't even come close to hanging.

Heck, I'd travel from Houston to North Tx just to do something different.

Thanks, Billy

If it was a true north Texas I'd be in. A lot these claim to be north tx but they're pretty south or east of metroplex.

I fished the BFL (formerly Redman) from 1983 to 2008. They always ran a first-class tournament. The top 30 or so move on to a no-entry fee regional at which they typically gave away a new Ranger boat and a truck to the winning boater. My day 1 co-angler draw partner in the 2008 regional won a Ranger boat in the regional.

The top six or so from each regional go to the no-entry fee national (All American).

I will be fishing them again next year now that I am retired. I hope they will have a local series. Call them if you want them to bring it here.

I highly recommend them.

I think you can put just about any tourney with a decent payout on Rayburn or Toledo and its going to draw at least 100 boats because there are so many guys that only fish tourneys on those lakes. That's not the case up here. Some guys love Ray Roberts, others hate it....same with Cedar Creek, Fork, Twok, Lewisville, etc.
Agree, ABA has an excellent individual trail, and hard to get 50 boats. They fish Ceder every year, and Chambers/Twok every couple of years and have tried lewisville, and Ray Hubbard in the past, and currently fish the championship at Texoma. With guaranteed 5k first, you would think it would draw more. Good luck on the new trail, and hope it's success.

I would love to see it happen but reality is north Texas has so many options it results in all of the events being watered down numbers wise. You also have a lot of guys say they will turn out when they respond to posts on here only to never see them when its time to sign up and enter. Really finicky market area.

I'd fish a BFL version in this area. The cost of fishing Rayburn/Toledo just don't make it cost effective especially if you add in a practice day. But as in previous posts, for some reason the draw trails don't work up here in north Texas. Wish they did. I guess it's just cheaper to fish team trails.

My .02.... folks will drive from all over to get to Deep East Texas and fish rayledo, but very few will drive 4-5 hours to fish Lewisville.

I think it is time for FLW to make another run at it, it's been ~10 years and plenty of lessons learned.... I'm a FLW life member an would give it another shot.....
