FLW is putting the 2018 Bass Fishing Schedule together. I see lots of interest from a post on my Facebook page but also hearing this has been done in the past with very little participation. Why is it that lots of North TX anglers will travel to Rayledo but not support a FLW trail up here?

Are they bringing it up here? That would be great. I quit doing the Rayledo thing.....too far to travel.

They say there's not enough interest but I really think there is. I know of a lot of people that would fish it. If we can get their attention by showing interest then they may eventualy listen and do a north texas trail again. Hard to beleive that Texas can only support 1 BFL division.

It's individual but a draw format where each boater is paired with a non boater. The BFL is a one day Saturday tournament except for the Super Tournament which is 2 days. It's a pathway for the weekend angler to get to the All-American and even the Forrest Wood Cup.

$115 per regular tourney and $175 for tje super. It's a great way to learn and build relationships in the fishing community.

Some Details The BFL is FLWs entry level tournament series that fished 4 regular single day tournaments on Saturdays and 1 two day Super Tournament. This format allows anglers a pathway to advance to the no-entry fee regionals, All American and even to the Forrest Wood Cup. As in all of FLW tournaments boaters and non-boaters are randomly paired at the meeting the night before each tournament. Entry fees for boaters are $230 For regular events and $345 For the Super Tournament. Non-boaters entry fees are $115 and $175 respectively.

I would fish it as a boater I just hate trying to compete with local Rayburn Toledo locals that have way more prefish time than I do.

For whatever reason, most people in North Texas including me, seem to prefer team events. Now if someone's goal is to become a pro or try to qualify for the All American or Forrest Wood Cup then great. But, the tourney numbers have proven up here for as long as I have been fishing then that team events reign supreme.
I think you can put just about any tourney with a decent payout on Rayburn or Toledo and its going to draw at least 100 boats because there are so many guys that only fish tourneys on those lakes. That's not the case up here. Some guys love Ray Roberts, others hate it....same with Cedar Creek, Fork, Twok, Lewisville, etc.

I would like to see an individual north Texas trail that includes an end of the year event that you qualify based on standings.
