here is my tale of woe, was I right or wuzzi wrong ?
Needed a cable for a little GoPro type camera, went to Frys camera dept, no cables to be found, so I looked at the phone accessories, lotsa cables so I asked the closest employee, he said those cables are in the components section on the other end of the store, I said okey dokey , thanks, and headed that way, I looked & looked but couldn't find the cable I needed, so I asked, the reply I received was "thoses are in the office supplies section", I raised an eyebrow, but again thanks, & I headed that way...(apparently a Frys employee cant cross sections like the helpful bunch at Wal Wart) ...anyway once my feet were in the office supplies, I asked a fella & he immediately grabbed the wrong cable & said here you go...I pointed out that that was not the part I needed so he heads for his computer then calls me over & asks is this what you want, yep that is it I replied. I was then informed, actually that cable is in the camera section (where I started 20 minutes ago) ...at that point I kinda lost it, I said f*&% it , are all you dum basses ? then marched out the front door with steam rising from my head. I contend that this type of customer service is why in the not to distant future most brick & mortor stores will be done with, I could have saved myself a half hour a serious aggravation if I just ordered it online. btw, Frys seems more like a jumbo overstock surplus store than a real electronics store, regardless they have lost my business.

Insert SD card in place of cable and you have my LAST visit to Fry's.

I have the mind set in a store that there is likely only 1 employee who can help me and I won't get to see that person. I am surprised if they can help. I don't judge the store on the minimum wagers. When you get your cable, post a video in the Bass section titled "Incredible day at Fry's"

Insert SD card in place of cable and you have my LAST visit to Fry's. SD Card wont charge the battery, I already ordered & got it from AMazon Prime, I hate to see the stores & the jobs that go with them lose ( I realize a 15 dollar cable ain't much) but if the leg work is up to me now, I;ll just have it brought ot my door. oh believe me, I have had my last visit it Frys,

You probably paid 1/3 as much for it on Amazon as you would have at Fry's anyway.

Can't really blame the employees, they make minimum wage and are sent to the floor with minimal training. It's retail, they don't get paid enough to really care anyway.

Your frustration is absolutely understandable and at no time did you display any sense of entitlement - which runs rampant in society today. In fact, my call would be that you could have pushed more, and earlier in your ordeal.
I think the key would be in telling them you tried to solve it with no assistance, and then you struck out once using assistance. Demonstrating that you're not just a lazy azz who walks in, looks nowhere and expects them to drop everything they're doing to help YOU can change the dynamic. That's the scenario they deal with with most customers, so they kinda give you their auto-pilot assistance.
There's nothing wrong with telling them, look, I'm not lazy, I have walked to different departments and everywhere I'm told by employees it would be, it isn't. Would you please take me to that (the next one) department, or page someone in that department who can meet me and take me to the item.
Usually at that point, you've become a respectable squeaky wheel. I refer to this as being "respectfully obnoxious".
Net/Net, they were wrong, but you could have pushed a bit more and perhaps left there a little less frustrated, and with your item.

Amazon. You're welcome. Next question ^^^This. If I don't need it right away I will get it online. It's not that the store shopping "experience" has gotten worse but the online shopping "experience" has gotten exponentially better.
Stress less, relax more. Go fishing.
