That is true. Ive exchanged words on more than one occasion on Lewisville's ramps. I sat in my boat beached on the bank yesterday for more than 30 minutes waiting while my partner waited in line to pull me out of what I believe now to be the only operating ramp on Grapvine. Not one boat that was putting in or pulling out was a bass boat. The water temp is not even 70 degrees yet and already the Jet skiers and ski boats are already clogging the ramps and reaking havoc.
What can you do?........

Don't hate the playa. Yeah, I see it almost every time I go to the ramp. Some wreck boater sitting on the ramp taking off his tie downs. Last week I launched there were two guys with the tow vehicle and trailer backed in. They had about 4 feet of bow strap let out, just sitting in the boat drinkin a beer on the ramp. I single launched, and they were still there when I left. When I came back in there was a party liner on the ramp. I had beached my boat, walked up got the tow vehicle, came down and loaded and was gone and they were still there messin with stuff. I went up to the top of the hill and pulled over to the place where they should have been doing that stuff. I locked it all down, and went around my boat twice wiping it down. Then I sat there and piddled a few more minutes until they finally came up the hill and down the road. Folks just don't care about other folks these days. You see it on the roads, and you see it on the ramp. IMO fisherman are the only savvy boaters on the water, and have courtesy for others. I'm sure there are exceptions, but as a general rule, I think this is true. I think there are probably some that aren't aware that they are being inconsiderate, but if you are unaware, doesn't that make you inconsiderate anyway? I mean, they are unaware because they do not think of things like that. Considerate people do think of things like that, all the time. I, like many others here on this board are always aware that others are waiting for us. Even when I park to ready, I consider others in the way that I park. When I pull up to the fee booth, I pull up as far as I can so another vehicle has room to pull up behind me and share the space. I was puzzled this last weekend though. I was loading and a couple of guys pulled up with a Skeeter Bass boat to launch. I was over against the curb on the ramp making plenty of room for another vehicle to back down beside me, but they just waited for me to pull up. I chocked it up to someone that needed the whole ramp to launch.

It is just a fact of boating! Ramps are the only means of getting your boat in and out of the water and not all people are aware of the unwritten rules. Like someone else pointed out. I just sit there and enjoy the shows. Most people use their boats a couple times a year and just don't have the practice necessary to do it effeciently. Life is to short to let something like 10 or 15 minutes raise your blood pressure and give you a heart attack.

So I would be one of the ones that people would be mad at, only difference I am always worried about people waiting. Sometimes the motor just won't start right away and that is the only reason I would have to take more than a minute or so. I am always ready to get on or off UNLESS there is no one else out. If I'm gettin unstrapped on the ramp and I see someone else that pulled up and got ready quicker than I did, I have no problem with gettin the heck outta tha way.

I don't really know what to type here.

Mota problems on the ramp are different. This is something you have no control over. I think I speak for most on this topic when I say we are talking about the inconsiderate folks who casually park on the ramp to load their boat and pull off the straps, go get the gas can, fill er up. Shoot, mize well wax it before we go. Ok, I am going a bit overboard here, but I have seen some that aren't far from doing just that. I have witnessed folks wiping the boat down on the ramp after loading. Boat ramp ettiquette is kind of a peeve of mine. Don't get me started.

Motor problems are not what I meant in my original post. Heck, it happens to all of us one day more than likely. There is nothing inconsiderate about it taking a few minutes for your motor to start. Now the jackball that backs down the center of a two lane ramp and starts unstrapping stuff and giving his kids directions taking 15 minutes is inconsiderate and deserves to have something said to him....

Texas has a 'right to carry' concealed gun law. If you said something to 'him' that 'he' considered threatening, 'he' may pull his legal pistol and blast you into smithereens thereby further delaying you. That's not good. violin

I guess one either has some ingrained sense of courtesy and consideration or one doesn't? Is this a great country or what?

Getting back to the signs, I have seen some posted at some ramps. I think they are more common at the state parks. But then everyone there is there all weekend usually. So their in no hurry.

There is a way to inform someone about the ediquette of the ramp. Maybe the moron doesn't know any better and by you just saying something might be the info they need to not do it next time. Everyone is going on th assumption that these people are doing it on purpose. It could be they are just RAMP STUPID. If you catch them doing it again then bounce a 3/4 oz. off there heads!

I'm not sure what you're trying to say, but I'd rather deal with a sail boat than a jet ski. Regardless, have you ever wondered what they think of bass anglers? Don't care? I'm sure they don't either.

I met some of 'em through the above mentioned person. They're actually very proud of being in the way; the general opinion was, the more they could inconvenience other boaters the better they liked it.

Not to mention the one I almost ran over in the middle of Grapevine one night at 11 PM who had no lights - never had that happen with a jet ski. But hey, what would you expect - can't afford a motor for the damn thing, probably don't have money for a light either. And besides, they OWN the lakes, just ask one of 'em.

So that's what they think of bass anglers - and everyone else. Bunch of elitist snobs. Again, my opinion.

Oh, HECK no! Why would somebody spend all that money on a 500 HP motor and then not run it wide open? I am lookin' to upgrade my 500 HP Optimax to an 850 HP as soon as they come out. On my 37 foot Bass Cat that oughta give me about 250 MPH top speed.

Younger women, older whiskey, faster bass boats. Or is it faster women, younger bass boats?
