Fingers boat ramp in Port Isabel ramp fees is outrageous. Is this ramp owned by the City of Port Isabel? I paid $100 bucks yearly for a county owned ramp north and south of the bay. Imagine you are a little late and over the 4 hour limit and paying a fee of 30 bucks, ridiculous. BTW, good one that they try to take advantage of the hard working fellow fishermen / fisherwomen who work weekdays and only have time to fish on weekends by doubling the fees. Hopefully the City will lose the customers using that ramp and customers goes elsewhere to do business unless the City plays fair and offer fair ramp fees. The ramp is also bad when putting boats on the trailer, its so steep compared to other boat ramps.

Looks like they are learning from the Great State of Taxes! Our state government has hired too many MBA's who sit around and think up new ways to tax us and call them "fees". Truck & car inspections & registrations(gone way up), trailer inspections, titles and registrations for kayaks with trolling motors, on and on.
I'll bet that after paying Port Isabel all that money, your truck & trailer aren't watched by any security folks at all.
I only ever go to Port Isabel to eat at Pelican Station.

Every thing about saltwater fishing is more expensive. I would contact the chamber of commerce and let them know I will buy all my supplies before my tires hit the island until they become more reasonable with their fees. Write the paper as well, may not change a lot but at least you can get it off your chest. In port a tpwd and the city have a great ramp and big lot, they do it right.

Agreed. Surely there are other alternative boat ramps to use?

lot of bad stories about that ramp, up to and including illegal towing & impoundment of vehicles & boat trailers. do a little investigating, but stay away from that ramp.

Agreed. Surely there are other alternative boat ramps to use? Sure I do, I use two other ramps I use owned by the county that I get charged for only 100 bucks for the whole year which is very reasonable. It's out of Arroyo city and north of S.P.I. I am not hurt or whining about the ramp at the Fingers in Port Isabel, I will not and won't use it due to a few reasons, but posted this so others can be aware of what is going on in Port Isabel when they bring their boats in to fish. Just a heads up.
