600 hours on a 2010 200hp Mercury. How many hours should a marine engine like this expect to run before a major breakdown or overhaul is needed?
If you can't find em wind em.

I had a 2007 Mercury Pro X's 250, when I traded it in it had over 1100 hours over the course of 8 years. The motor was still strong & compression was good. I took very good care of the motor, yearly service maintenance, plugs, impeller & lower unit oil changed 2x a year. Only major issue I had was air compressor would go out. Take good care of the motor & it will take care of you. I am currently over 2 years on another Pro XS with over 260 hours & no issues, yearly maintenance is the key.

80-100 hrs a year is about average use. Most well maintained motors can go 3,000 easy. Good fuel and good oil make a difference.
