I have a 2011 zx190 with 2 different livewells. Most boats these days have gone to the divided one big livewells. I always liked the split because i sometimes fish a 3 fish limit or big bass tournaments, and only fill one up to keep fish without loading down the boat with water. I like to fill it up because it keeps from sloshing the fish so bad, where as one divided would only fill half full with the same amount of water. What are everyone else's thoughts? Which do you prefer and why?

How many gallons does each livewell hold?

I like the splits in my Phoenix for the same reasons you listed.

I've always had boats with 2 separate wells, but like the look of the single that can be divided if need be. Cant really say that I have a preference either way only having owned one type.. I do think there are some advantages fish care wise to the one big well if you catch a giant. 7-8lb fish look pretty cramped in the small ones.

I caught an 11 pound hybrid once an it wouldn't fit.

lets say it's 15 gallons = 125 lbs.
Don't think that will measurably affect the performance of your boat. In fact, I'd bet it will drive better with both wells full. Not as fast, but better. i.e. weight distribution.

Good point, my boat does ride better with full tanks of gas, but with full tanks and full livewells she is pretty sluggish out of the hole. Although that is with a 150, good info guys. These are things I am considering in the next couple years when upgrading.

Mine too, Cephus. That's why, after filling up with fuel, I only run the port tank down to 1/2 before switching to the starboard. For balance and weight distribution.

I have a front and rear in my Nitro and like them. If needed I can flood the front to keep the bow down if I am heavy in the rear. My rear livewell isn't split but it does have a low and a high overflow so the depth can be changed by plugging the low one.

Personally I hate the single live wells. I like the double so I have some redundancy. If for some reason the pumps go out I always have the other one.
Same reason I like a separate pump for fresh water and one for aeration. If one was to fail, I have the other to keep the livewell workable.

I actually am thinking about knocking out the divider on my Nitro because the fish I catch look cramped!!!

I like the seperated livewell just because I always fish with a partner. That way each of us has our own.

I like the splits in my Phoenix for the same reasons you listed.
Me to not to mention they are the best livewells in any boat.
