Getting ready to test drive. Anyone have any experience with the 221?

It's long! Might feel a tad under powered, but if you fish rough water then you're buying it for its hull anyways. Check the transom for rot/softness, if you don't know how...google it.

Had the 223 with a Opti-max 225. It was a great all round, just have to drive it. Trim all the way down to start and start trimming up immediately this will make a smooth transitions to running on the pad, just don't trim too high. When you shut down also hit the trim down may want to touch the throttle just before stop to keep backwash down if water is rough. I ran a 4 blade for better performance as I moved around from spot to spot. You may have to reset the motor and jack plate to get it right where you like it. Champion is a heavier boat but it is a great ride. Good Luck.

Been in several, best riding boat boat this old man has ever rode in. Two friends have them now, gone out on Amistad in 35 mph winds only boat in parking lot, no problemo. Check for cracks in transom corners, wish I owned one, I have a 202 Champ. Boat envy.
