To be honest I haven't noticed a bigger avage or even bigger fish on a jig. I've caught the same numbers on a similar sized Texas rig with about the same quality. I know jigs catch big fish but so do Texas rigs. What are your thoughts?

avg size is bigger, because I catch fewer dinks on them. Trig will bring in the dinks. Most of the year I catch fewer fish in the jig, but flipping this spring was good and the fish were averaging better. Hard to tell though because my lake has had an above avg year also. Football jig bite seems to be good fish or nothing at all, but it has yet to turn on here. I feel the creature and beaver baits have changed the game with jig vs Trig.

The deeper the water, the more likely I'm throwing a jig vs a t-rig-----I can feel what it's doing better. The skirt gives some water resistance that I can feel when it drops off a deep limb or ledge. Trig in the same weight feels like it falls faster and doesn't give as much feedback on the fall Throw jigs shallow plenty also

Personally. I believe a jig gives me a better odds of landing big fish. I might not receive as many bites, but I will land them. Just my confidence in Stanley Jigs.

http://tpwd.texas.gov/fishboat/fish/didyouknow/inland/bassinmarch.phtmlPlastics, jigs, spinnerbaits in that order for Lake Fork Sharelunkers. Know why? More people throw plastics than any other lure. I throw both and have caught more DD bass on a jig than all other baits combined.

In my experience its seems jigs, buzzbaits and hollow body frogs seem to attract a better than average sized fish. Some days you still catch dinks on them bu in my own experience they just seem to catch a better size when its averaged out.

If you're talking about better odds between a worm and a texas rig, that's not been my experience. A fish can use the weight of the jighead to dislodge the hook. Hook up/landing ratio with a Texas rig is MUCH higher than on a jig, generally speaking.

This is what I have experienced. A jig is a super big fish bait here in the states and have won many tournaments on my custom Baby Doll Jigs. We are just getting fewer bits here in our lakes and a jig works better for me on the deep water ledges for bigger fish. This is not the case in shallow water unless the cover is extremely heavy then it works fine.
Now in Mexico where we have a captive audience of over 100 Bass per day; you would think a jig would knock their lights out on the big fish. I have fished it countless numbers of times over the years down there and just cannot make it match the Trig Brush Hog. I have fished it shallow, mid range and on deep ledges. Day in and day out the jig will only produce 1/3 the fish that the Brush Hog will produce and the landing ratio is also much better with a Trig..
I have to go with the numbers that both baits produce down there and transfer that knowledge to our lakes. If I want to to have the best chance to catch every big Bass the bait comes in contact with I am going with the Brush Hog. The Brush Hog in Mex. has also put down every creature bait and pitching bait that every customer has tried.

I would take five CB fish over anything else. Jigs would be a close second but definitely second.

Agree if I want to catch the five biggest fish in a school as fast as I can. But for the BIGGEST fish in the lake, day in and out, I'll still take the jig.

Big Football Jig for me if deep, rocky, and zero cover.....if cover/ hardwoods (say Sugar or Falcon), I like the Zoom Magnum Ultra Vibe worm Texas rigged placed right in the middle of it. For those who frequent Sugar, you know exactly what I'm talking about.
