I went with Ashworth College's AutoCAD Career Diploma program since it is completely self-paced. It'll only get me a certificate in AutoCAD user proficiency but it;s a start.

Cheers to the future!

Good deal! I need to do that. There are several things I can't get to work like I want so I have to work around it. I know there is a much faster way to do a lot of things I do.

I'm just self taught at this point and do it for personal hobby stuff and to help at work.

I've made a career in drafting. Try to learn 3D if you can. BTW, I think we have a drafting position open.

Definitely learn 3D. That's what I do as well. Great career path.

Bigbob, what discipline do you work in? I'm in electrical.

I remember the fun days of drawing 3-D stuff in release 10, when all you could do was use coordinates.

If you decide to use Ashworth let me know! I can get a little referral bonus I'll split with you lol

I have zero experience with CAD, but have been told by a few people in my field that their program is a good one for beginning the credential process.

I'll hopefully be focusing on Revit once I get proficient enough. I know it will take a while to learn the in's and out's though so no rush on my end.

I doubt I will be changing career fields but if the reason arises I will remember to reach out to you.

I wish my school would have offered soem CAD classes. We had the facilities for it, just not a teacher for it.

revit is very simple IMO compared to the other programs, so dont get yourself down thinking its tough. IMO its the easiest.

I'm a long way from Benbrook so that college is out unless they do online or something.'

Anyone know offhand if there is some place around Falcon Lake?

Everything you need to know about ACAD or REVIT is on youtube.
The school will give you access to the software, but is very expensive to buy on your own.
As a career draftsman, I would suggest now to learn rebar detailing and steel fabrication detailing.
Dont get into arch/struc/mech drafting, I know from experience!
Good luck!
