Man, ain't this the truth. Boat ramps with potholes to swallow a tire, and run down sketchy shacks. I wouldn't.

You must be talking about sunny glen? What a ramp. I think I remember a guy in our club broke an axle launching there in the early 90s

Speeder creek is accurate. And what do you expect with a Gun Barrel City. slinger

I forgot about Sunny Glen. Yea, that was quite a bit methy area back in the day

Most thefts I hear of seem to occur "from the water" on lakes. Take this as a grain of salt when you look, people who steal stuff don't seem to like the channels, since they have to drive past so many houses to get in and out. Same goes for being in a cul-de-sac, at the end of a street. I also believe weekender homes are probably targeted way more than full-timer homes. That said, I don't think thefts a CC are any worse than other lakes, I looked at Lake O' the Pines, and Palistine before settling on Cedar Creek, and saw areas I wouldn't buy in on all of them. I know many happily retired CC'ers! I lock my shed, don't leave good stuff out in my yard overnight, and use the security system if I'm not home, but would do the same in DFW.

I'm not trying to rain on the Cedar Creek locals that haven't had problems, but that east side looks like it is still the same as it was in the 80-90s. I remember a 60 minutes show (or some other news show) in the 80s that was about meth. I had no idea what it was until that show. The show was about Cedar Creek Lake and someplace in California, the top two producers of meth in the US at that time. I can tell you as of 3 years ago, you could go to most any gas station from Malakoff to Gun Barrel City late at night and see the real deal if you knew what you were looking for. Same goes for West Tawakoni area, probably worse. Judging by the news articles below, it's still business as usual.

I like to live on a lower tax County mostly but I would face the lake side of the house to the north. That way you can have some cool shade where everyone likes to congregate, a well placed deck/patio for viewing sunsets on that side of the house.

Breezes? I have noticed most of the wind is out of the SOuth-West, so same north facing the lake house the house blocks the wind.
