Spent a few hours fishing a creek behind a marina & caught 6. I also hooked a real nice sized bass & the line snapped when I went to grap it! They seem to hit better around 6 to 8 PM.

the only creek that i can think of behind a marina on hubbard would be the sail boat marina on the south end of the lake...
you can fish the I30 bridge just like that but results may vary

They have not kicked in good yet. I worked some cattails hard Sunday in a good spawning area and got three. I figured this next weekend would be the time but, this front is going to knock them down.

I have same opinion as Stump Jumper. Midlake around Texas Queen area, very few up shallow yet. I saw one 12 inch male caught last night. Looked like he'd been painted with black shoe polish. I fished the usual suspect places pretty thoroughly where there should have been at least a few if they were even half way started to move up and they just aren't there yet, at least in that area.
I agree that the coming front will likely just stall them some more. I had high hopes for this current full moon but it's not looking real promising at this point.

I have been out wading for them a couple of times, the only thing up in the shallows is gar and carp. Now an old timer told me that when that is the case that the crappie have dropped their eggs and moved on. Does anyone know how true that statement is? The reason I ask is because I usually slow down fishing when that happens.

Crappie Fan, I asked the same question last year, and the consensus from the crappie gurus seemed to be that it was not a bad thing when the carp and gar came in. In fact, Guy Skinner said he considered it a good sign indicating that the Crappie should be in the area also. I will admit that we did catch quite a few crappie last spring after the carp and gar showed up shallow but the crappie bite had got a little haywire due to the 3' rise that came on after they had already went into a good spawning pattern. We still caught plenty of females up shallow that still had eggs well after the carp and gar started their thrashing around routine. This year just seems to be running late and last year seemed to start early. I'm not complaining - just real ready for the action to heat up :-)

I have caught my limit on several occasions on Hubbard in the past month. I have caught them up shallow on 1/16 ounce jigs but I have been fishing on the north end of the lake. I have caught probably 50% females full of eggs. It really depends on where you are fishing. Of course the main lake is going to take longer to warm up but it shouldnt be long.

Hey Flipping, round about where were you? I don't want GPS coordinates just a rough location.
