Had a great 3 days of crappie fishing on Lake O the Pines. The crappie action has been fast and furious with the fish beginning to set up in their summer patterns. Some of the fish we have been catching still have some of their spawning colors left and we even had a few females with a good amount of eggs left. The first day of fishing was pretty windy but these young anglers stuck it out and boated a solid mess of fish. That minn Kota ultrex kept us locked on the spot and fishing with no problem. Day 2 was a mess with strong storms in the morning forcing us to stay safely at the dock. Once the storms cleared it only took a few hours to boat a 2 man limit and get off the water before the next storms hit that produced the tornado in Longview. Day 3 was much like day 2 with out the storms. It was a beautiful day on the water and the crappie bite was again fast and furious. If you would like to learn more about Lake O the Pines and experience this great crappie fishery give me a shout and let's go catch a mess! Thanks TFF! Les

Just spent the holiday weekend there. Stayed at Buckhorn Creek. I was watching the radar and saw the Doppler couplet coming towards us but no tornado warning. Then it pushed south and kept me from crapping my pants and not long after it became a tornado warned storm.
Right before all that hit on Sunday, we got into a school of LMB and were having a blast catching one after the other when we heard the rumble and I checked the radar. Had to get off the lake quick. Just made it back to the RV and the bottom fell out as the missus was pulling in the awning.
Probably won't go back to that part of the lake again. Looks like Johnson Creek is a better location with bait stores close by.
Fishin' to stock Lake Crisco.

Yeah the North Shore has more businesses on that side of the lake but living in Longview we like to camp at brushy creek cause it's close. The brushy landing store at the dam has some awesome pancakes for breakfast. They have live bait as well.

Congrats on a productive few days of fishing. Many memories at Tejas and fishing Pines. My grandparents live there and have a slip. They are in the process of moving, however. Beautiful lake!

Thank you sir! Growing up on the lake myself I have a ton of memories here as well. Definitely an excellent crappie lake with not a whole lot of pressure.

Smacked a 3 man limit on Pines yesterday with several 2 pound class fish. We actually had to go buy a second cooler after filling up the first one.

The brushy landing store at the dam has some awesome pancakes for breakfast. They have live bait as well. Thanks for the info. Hope to get back out there again soon. I rode over the dam on my bicycle and noticed the really nice area for fishing below the dam. Lots of folks fishing there when I went over. I guess I didn't get far enough towards Brushy Creek cause I didn't see a store.

The store is at the intersection where the dam (fm 726) ends at a stop sign. You can turn right to go to brushy creek campground or left goes to places unknown by me. 😂
