Question for all you Bass Cat owners. I have a 08 Pantera II. I would like to mount a second Hummingbird 859DI on the bow. With a small area to mount the foot pedal well is about the only place to mount on that model. I'm a little afraid to drill directly into the Fiberglass flooring in the well for fear the screws may rip out from the weight of the unit upon hitting any decent waves. I've noticed the base of the Ram mounts are fairly small and don't give the greatest support. Any response or photos would be greatly appreciated.

I have a RAM mount in the recessed area on my Cougar and I like it much more than the flush mount directly to the unit mount down in the well. Much easier to read and adjust settings being up 8-10", depending on how I have the mount set.
Im not sure how big your Hummingbird is but a RAM d111 with the big ball will hold anything. I have an HDS 10 on one on my other boat (Champion) and it doesnt budge. I went with the size just under the d111 for my current mount. Let me get the numbers off of it when I get home and I'll send it to you.

If you use big screws from the graph directly to the floor, you will be fine. Do not use screws on any other mounts besides the gimble directly.

Precision sonar makes the best mount for the front that I've found.

Thanks for your response. Just wondering how long of screws you were using since there is no way to get under the well to use a bolt. I see Ram makes Expansion Rubber boots for the screw, wondering if they would be better than a straight screw.

I have a hds12 on a ram on the bow of my puma. No issues. You might want to ask on the basscat board at bbc or call basscat. A lot of folks cut a hole under tm pedal and use bolts. That is how mine was installed. Good luck. JD

When you cut a hole in the floor can you then reach far enough up front to reach under the floor to add backing or at least washer/ nuts.

Get you some goop or 5200 and put it around the screws and under the mount.or find a small child to crawl in the rod locker to through bolt it.

would appreciate the info on the screws or the size of the hole as well. Have and HDS8 On ram mount now and there is some minor cracking from around the screws that I used there. Like it on the ram for the reasons listed above just hate worrying about it when running in rough water. Like my boat too much still to tear it up haha

just a thought, but you could use a molly bolt to get more grip on the back side.
