Went out Tuesday May 30 on a scouting run. Stopped 1st at east end of Long Ridge and found large school hugging the bottom on the north slope in 28 to 30 fow. Caught 10, all 13 to 16 inches, then went to Mid-lake Hump. Caught 10 there in 27 fow then looked out on the deep east edge on Merimac Point but not there. Next checked the west edge of Spillway Hump in 25 fow, and it was loaded with fish. Caught 10 there and then checked northwest edge of Spillway Hump and found them there. Caught 10 more, a 21 inch hybrid and hooked a VERY large fish. I fought it for 15 minutes before it wound around my anchor rope and broke off (trolling motor is in the shop). I never got it up high enough to see it. I've caught a 40 lb blue before and this felt bigger.

About that time GolferBrian of TFF came over and we chatted for a while. He wanted to know how I find hybrids. Well, I target white bass and catch hybrids in with them, so I wasn't much help. He thanked me for the info I put out on the forum, including my CC map, then went his way.

Next, I looked for fish on the northern most edge/drop-off on Spillway Hump. Found a few there then went to Enchanted Isle Ridge. Found a VERY large school on the bottom on the northwest edge in 25 fow. Sat there and caught em til I got tired and went in. Caught a total of 79 fish. I caught most on #4 but a few on #2 Mepps.

Flying, stinging tiny black ants: These attacked me again (it happened a couple of weeks ago on calm day). They buzz around you and some get under my clothing. Twice now I have these quarter to half inch red whelps - about a dozen - that itch like heck. Taking benedril and applying cortisone ointment and still it itches. I recommend spraying yourself down with insect repellant ( which I didn't do ahead of time) before you go out on calm days.

I was on Game Warden Hump Sunday 6/4 from 2-4. Caught 85. Mostly whites, no hybrids, and a 19"LMB. Kept 12 for dinner. All caught on #4 mepps fast retrieve. 17 FOW and they where up to 10' deep
