Strand area. Lot's of shops and interesting museums. Ride the ferry it is free and make sure you take some bread to feed the seagulls. Some times there is a line to board but it is worth it. Fish at seawolf park on pelican island. They also have a submarine there to walk through. On the West end there is Moody park and aquarium really nice.

I have always enjoyed hitting tar balls that wash up on the beach with a golf club.

The downtown area is a cool place to walk around when the weather is nice. There is an old fashioned soda and ice cream shop where they make homemade ice cream and candy. Great ice cream, and they have a 100 year old salt water taffy machine that makes for a pretty cool show.

Not free but not a lot of dough is maybe my favorite museum ever! http://thebryanmuseum.org/ So much cool stuff. What else do we do? Grilling, fishing, beach laying, swimming, there is a great Mexican place called Nopalera Grill that we always go to. Big time hole in the wall but some of the best Mexican I have had. The homemade tortillas alone are worth it. Man usually when I go down, we just chill and do whatever we want. Thats why its vacation.

Take a can of Pringles to the beach. Just walk down the beach and when you see people laying in the sun with their eyes closed, crush up a couple and throw them on them. Watch the seagulls flock, then move on to the next sunbather.

What's some fun cheap stuff to do in Galveston? Turn around and leave. That's what I like to do when I'm in Galveston.

Yeah, these words don't go well together in the same sentence. Bring one of your bass fishing setups and wade fish the bay side of Galveston State Park. Seawolf Park is nice, but can be packed. I avoid it entirely now. If you cannot go fishing: - Lone Star Flight Museum (really cool, not too costly) - Moody Gardens Pyramids (very cool, but pretty expensive) - Bolivar Ferry is free, but you can wait almost 2 hours before you get to board. I once had to wait 3 hours.

Our family likes to see who can catch the most turds with a casting net in the surf. ITs a good time to be had by all

2 fishing piers 1 at 61st and the other at 91st, they both have rentals if interested. Across from 91st is a Putt Putt, walk the Strand in Downtown, or hit the museums as mentioned. Make sure to get the mobile parking app, I just got back this week and while fishing got a $30.00 ticket, point is they do check.

Galveston isn't cheap. For the love of heaven, DON'T feed the seagulls please. Unless you enjoy getting yourself and everyone else around you rained on with guano. They just remodeled and reopened the Moody aquarium Very much worth your time and money to go explore. Expect to spend a large chunk of the day there if you go. Seawolf Park gets overcrowded. I tend to prefer the bay side over towards Kemah and Seabrook and League City. I absolutely love Bubba's Shrimp palace in San Leon and there's the monster sandwiches at Hoagie Ranch in Kemah - literally around the corner from where my aunt lived. I don't know where to go bother the hermit crabs or the Vietnamese bait shops since they built the monstrosity that's the boardwalk. But there's something to be said for people watching too.
