I've known them to be called camel spiders, we had a huge one in our cabin in west Texas. I about had a heart attack when I saw it. It has a mouth that opens exactly like the thing in the movie Predator.

Google search the camel spiders images and it's creepy!

Camel spider, aka wind scorpion, aka sun spider, aka solfugid, in the order Solifugae. An arachnid but not a spider. Tough predators, they just walk up and start eating their prey. Not harmful to humans.

Vinegaroons are a different arachnid.

The color is wrong to be a desert vinegaroon, look at his photo again. That is a Madagascar tick...scary-looking but harmless. They're actually quite tasty, you smoke them just like a pork shoulder.
